The #5 Bears started off the weekend with the JV squad running at Cy-Fair High School on Friday. They placed 2nd to Cy-Woods with Arianna Elder and Morgan Watson making their presence felt throughout the contest. Elder led for most of the race with Watson charging up from mid pack to finish 3rd.
The Varsity stayed home and took advantage of the unusual season to host #9 Tompkins, #10 Klein, Stratford, Katy and Klein Cain for a track 5K. Running a 5K on a track is rarely seen in Texas but is a staple of collegiate and professional meets. This unique opportunity attracted some of the region's best teams and they didn't disappoint. Sophomore Emily Ellis, pushed by a strong lead pack, ran a blistering final 600 meters to shatter the existing CFISD record set in 2011 by over 6 seconds enroute to her 2nd consecutive victory.
Top finishers (sub-20min):
This weekend both teams will compete at Nike South Invitational in the Woodlands where once again Bridgeland will test themselves against the best in the surrounding area as they prepare to defend the district title later next month.
