The 4th installment of the CCCAT coaches poll has the Bears slipping a spot to #6 in the state rankings. The post season is 2 weeks away and the team is training hard to go for their 3rd straight District crown and ultimately a bid to compete in their 3rd straight State meet.  Split over Thursday and Friday the girls competed in both the Bridgeland JV Invitational #2 and the CFISD Invitational.

Thursday, in the Bridgeland JV Invitational #2 the team was split between the 2 mi and 5K race. With the team split between the distances there was not enough for a team score. Congratulations to Emmy Seiffert who in her first high school race, led from the gun, winning the 2 mi contest! Bella Vickers placed 17th in the 5K effort.

We had two groups compete in the morning sections of the CFISD Invitational on Friday.  In varsity division 2, the team placed 4th in a race that included the top seven from one of the likely regional qualifiers from our district (Cy-Woods.)  In varsity division 1, the ladies came home with a very close 1-point win over a tough Stratford team. Emily Ellis continued her outstanding rookie season by leading wire to wire for her 3rd race victory. Adding to the action Athena Reyna out sprinted the last scoring runner for Stratford in the final 20 meters of the race to secure the outright win for Bears.

Notable finishes from D2 (Top 20)

- Macie Gunn, 19th

On Friday the team will have a mile time trial at the Bridgeland track as they make the final preparations for the District contest the following week.
